FROM TRIPADVISOR

This was the most extraordinary experience being able to get so close, touch and feel these beautiful enormous animals. So warm and surprising soft. The grooms were incredibly knowledgeable and patient ( as were the elephants) with us tourists and explained clearly how to approach, feed and touch the elephants. Forget swimming with dolphins, this is where it’s at. Highly highly highly recommended. Loved every minute, what a privilege.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE
We had a wonderful 2 hours with the elephants, experiencing hands on how the elephants live, how they are structured and best of all getting to ride one of them. The elephants are kept in a lovely, safe environment with plenty of food, and lots of respect. We were given an overview of their lives and the we had a real close up experience with Tembo a fully grown male who was so gentle. I can’t recommend this experience enough.

GREAT EXPERIENCE & VERY INFORMATIVE
I’m always a little uncertain of places that keep animals in captivity and so was visiting with an open mind. However, the Elephant tour we did was very good. It was extremely informative and it was clear to see how well the elephants were being looked after. I’ve never visited an animal interaction place that was so focused on educating us, yet made it fun and interactive… study all the little hairs, feel his ears and learn things I never knew about an elephant was very humbling. We certainly came away with a great understanding of these beautiful creatures.

MY GROUP FROM ENGLAND LOVED THE OPPORTUNITY TO TOUCH AN ELEPHANT!
My group from England and Ireland, visited the Elephant Whispers for the Interaction. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience, guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and wonderful with the handling of the Elephants. They found the opportunity to get so close to Temba, the large bull, so incredible being able to touch his skin, tusks, trunk and ears.
After they had seen them roaming free in Kruger, it brought home the plight of Elephants in the wild. A great experience which they will never forget.

WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE
On our tour of South Africa we were offered the chance of an optional excursion to Elephant Whispers. We were so pleased that we did.
To meet these majestic animals upclose and learn so much about them was a wonderful experience. They were obviously well cared for and definitely seemed to interact with their carers. All of our party enjoyed the time here and it was one of the highlights of our trip.

TIME WITH THESE MAGNIFICENT ANIMALS
This was a phenomenal experience and very humbling. Seldom have we been moved by interaction with animals like we were at Elephant Whispers, to see the team interact with animals that are so loved and cared for is truly unique. The Elephants were untroubled and obviously well looked after, with the star being Tembo, the 32 year old Bull elephant who was as gentle as he is large. My advice would be to take the sun-downer package so you can visit the stables and see where these magnificent animals stay and you can also interact with Eugene and the team who are more than willing to answer any questions you may have. A must see place to visit.

IT’S EVEN BETTER THAN YOU THINK
We had reservations about an attraction that utilises elephants however this is not stick based training. We were relieved to see these elephants learn via a food treat based rewards system, without use of the sticks or coercion. The elephants were rescued from various cull situations and are cared for. A part of the Seasons in Africa group, this is a clean, well run and professional experience. The up close encounter includes feeding, touching and learning a great deal about anatomy, behaviors and training. The optional ride is a “bucket list” activity. Staff take pics with your camera. I recommend booking this rare opportunity if you’re going to be in the area.

“FROM THE MOMENT WE ARRIVED TO THE TIME WE LEFT WE WERE MADE SO WELCOME,”
If you want to have an afternoon filled with an experience that you will never forget, this is the place, the talks were very informative, the people that were in charge of the elephants were amazing, good to see how the elephants are trained, with love and kindness and with food, interesting to see how many commands they know, an afternoon well worth spending time with the Elephant Whisperers!

VERY EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE
Had a wonderful time!!
Really enjoyed the educational aspect and the up close and personal interaction.
I was worried about it being zoo like (which I despise!) but in fact was very spacious, the elephants appear to by well looked after and their training is done by a commend reward system.
We did the elephant ride also, and was very enjoyable.

ELEPHANT WHISPERS IS A COMPULSORY AND ONE OF THE MOST ENJOYED COMPONENTS OF ALL OUR TOUR GROUPS
The privilege of being able to get so close to these majestic creatures is a magical experience. They touch your very soul. Thank you, Elephant Whispers, for making these interactions possible, and also for the unforgettable experience you afforded recently to caregivers from a centre for disabled children.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS OPPORTUNITY
Such an unexpectedly up close and interactive experience with the elephants at Elephant Whispers.
Opted out of the option to ride because of a negative experience in India but this is a VERY different environment and I urge you to take advantage of the chance to extend your time with these majestic and sensitive creatures. Missing this was my only regret of the trip.
The team training approach is based on positive reinforcement and trust building. The animals seem well cared for and well adjusted. I highly recommend adding this stop to your itinerary.

AWESOME EXPERIENCE!!
Elephant whispers is for sure one for your bucket list. The interaction with these gentle giants is absolutely priceless! We loved to be able to touch this incredible animal, feel the warmth of his breath on your hands when you feed him pellets, touch the incredible trunk, see those lovely eyes up close, feel the skin under your hands and the soft, velvety skin behind those big ears!! I am in love!!!
The guides are professional and so polite. They took awesome pictures of us, one can see that they really love the ellies.

A GREAT PLACE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THESE GENTLE GIANTS
We went with a group of Children from a place of safety and what an amazing outing it was. The service was fantastic from the first phone call to the last goodbye. The Elephant interactions was top notch. Not once did I feel these beautiful animals were mistreated. The groomers work with the Elephants with the utmost respect and without any sense of aggression. The talks were educational, yet interesting, keeping the children’s attention while still teaching everyone more about the animals.
What an amazing experience! I highly recommend this establishment.

MAJESTIC CREATURES WHO ARE TRULY LOVED
What an experience! The elephants are HUGE. We were welcomed to the sanctuary and shepherded around the estate with care and consideration. The elephants are of course the stars of the whole day but their human counterparts are gentle and caring, giving voice commands only. There are no chains or sticks and the elephants appear to be completely content. They really are wonderful creatures.

VERY EDUCATIONAL
This was a very good mix between learning about elephants and just enjoying the experience with them. In comparison to other touristy stuff I have done, this organisation stands out by their professional attitude. Most of the 18 elephant guides live on the premises and you can see that their relationship to the animals is close and not just functional. The elephants have a big open bush area where they can move freely. The ½hour of the experience consist of showing how the elephants have learned to react on verbal comments, explaining physique and behaviour of them and letting the visitors get “a feel” for them by letting them touch different parts of the elephant under close supervision of the guides. Optional is a short ride on the elephant. The animals didn’t show hospitalised behaviour at all, they even seemed to enjoy the attention (and treats). I am not an expert on how to keep large wild animals in captivity. But the sheer amount of space and staff to take care of these elephants seemed to me like a very good condition for them.

THESE ELEPHANTS ARE AMBASSADORS FOR THEIR KIND
We had spent six days observing animals, including elephants, in the wild in the very north of Kruger and in the Timbavati. This was a chance to interact with these beautiful creatures and to learn more about them up close and personal. No one should confuse their ability to learn commands (more than dogs) with a circus performance. I have handled elephants in Asia and this was my chance to touch an African elephant and note all the differences. The trainers handled them so gently and kept them so calm while we were able to spend time with them. To ride and give treats to the huge Tembo was an experience we will never forget. To see them take their dust bath down by the pond while rumbling at each other and then wander off for their afternoon break was even better.
Don’t expect tricks. Just expect to spend time with the most magnificent creatures on earth.
